The audiovisual sector has always been in constant change. Recently we are going through an even more exciting revolution. TV sets with added Internet connectivity, tablets and smartphones are now part of our “TV lives”. TV is no longer about sending information in one direction. The Internet links the audience and the content providers. This development opens the door to new converged modes of cultural expression, new services, new players and new audiences. The European Commission wants to make sure that the technological potential becomes a reality for the benefit of audiences and creators. Many of us have witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall through the eyes of cameramen. This was 25 years ago. We want to see remaining borders falling, also in the audiovisual world.
